Installation#

Handel installation depends on your use-case and operating system. We’ve identified two major use-cases: plug-and-play and integration. The operating system influences your installation options. Windows will be the easiest path. Linux requires compilation and a bit of technical skill. We recommend choosing the path that suits your needs.

Many of our end-users just need a simple plug-and-play installation path on Windows. The ProSpect package provides Handel, drivers, and a GUI. It’s the easiest path to get you up and running with your XIA digitizer. This path is only intended for users on a Windows system.

The second use-case is integration with custom software. We recommend the standalone Handel Release for this. Windows has pre-compiled binaries that can be used.

Note

Windows users will still need to download and install ProSpect when using the standalone Handel installation. This is the easiest path to install the necessary Windows USB drivers.

In all situations, Linux use-cases will need to be compiled from source. Please refer to Compiling for more information on this topic.
